My husband and I were in the mood for Asian food after a long workday and wanted to try something different in Gainesville.
Took a chance on Hana Sushi since it was open and had mostly good reviews. The place was extremely busy for a Monday night with only 1 or 2 tables available when we arrived. The menu looked good (lots of variety), the place looked relatively clean, and the people dining in seemed happy with their food.
Decided to get takeout since the hostess also said takeout and dine-in had similar wait times. She also said that the outdoor seating area was ok to eat at even if we were getting takeout since they didn't have any outdoor table service tonight.
My husband ordered well-done Salmon Teriyaki and Veggie Garden roll with soy paper. I ordered the Sashimi Deluxe. Both orders came with side of rice, miso soup and ginger salad. Also ordered 2 hot green teas. Total with generous tip was $95.
We waited about 20 minutes for our food; the food was worth the wait đ. Visited the restroom during the wait, and it was clean, so that was reassuring.
The order was packed in plastic containers and stacked neatly inside 2 Hana Sushi brand paper bags. Utensils, soy sauce, and spoons were included. No napkins, though (understandable to forget as it IS a busy night), so my husband was able to ask the hostess for a few since we were eating in the outdoor patio.
All the fish tasted fresh. Cooked food was hot, and the sashimi was excellent. Miso soup was just right for me, but a bit too seaweed-flavored for my husband who dislikes seaweed. He said the salmon was crunchy and good. However, he could detect a hint of seaweed. Perhaps the same pot or serving utensils might be used for seaweed dishes? Either way, he finished off his meal since he was really hungry after a long day of work.
4 stars for the atmosphere since when we ate in the patio area, many of the chairs were broken, wobbly, or had holes. A majority of the tables were also either dirty, wobbly, or both. We took a chance on eating outdoors and learned the hard way that this is why outdoor table service is not offered đ˘. Parking situation is pretty good as there is lots of space as they share a parking lot with Dave & Busters next door. If you can't find a spot, people are leaving almost every 5 minutes so it's almost impossible not to find one.
Overall, the whole meal was satisfying for the Asian food craving that we had. We would go here again to try eating in when it's not so busy (if that exists). Thanks for a nice first visit.
4.5âď¸ Good food, atmosphere could be better.
This is hands down one of the best Japansese cusine in townâonly Momoyaki comes close imhoâ. We devoured sushi platter (boat), Hibachi chicken noodles, dumplings, soups and salad, and all were top notch. Fresh and juicy. Service was excellent as well. Only thing that was slightly below par was the overall atmosphere and vibe. No music, not a lot of decoration just a TV in the bar and rumblings. Overall, we were here for food, and it was awesome. So, would visit againâŚsoon.
What a lovely find,
Little place that offers great service ,lovely ambience and the food was delicious.
Lots of parking.
Seating inside ,I also did see an outside patio that you could enjoy when the weathers not so hot.
We sat at the bar the bartender was very helpful with helping us to make the right choices off the sushi menu.
Everything seemed fresh and was displayed nicely.
When Iâm back in town it this is a place I will be visiting again.
This place when you what fresh fish is the spot. Asked the chef for custom chirashi. You wonât be disappointed. Fantastic. The bass and redfish were my favorite.
We visited Hana for a celebratory dinner with a large group. They were unable to accommodate reservations but we were sat in a timely manner and did not have any issues (recommend arriving early 5-6pm if you have a big group). All of the sushi was fresh and delicious and our service was good. I personally had the spicy girl roll and highly recommend this one, very fresh and well balanaced! Everyone else in the group loved their food and we had a great time! They were able to accommodate specific food allergies as well (peanut and dairy). This was my second time visiting Hana and it was just as good this time as the first time, will definitely be back!!
Sushi is tasty and fresh. My favorite sushi rolls are the Hawaiian roll and the veggie dragon roll. Nigiri sushi is pretty good too. Service is friendly. Sometimes you have to wait a few minutes for a table because itâs busy!! That says a lot⌠the only thing I donât like is the ceiling. It needs some remodeling. Also, the server station is a little bit dirty maybe because itâs busy. Overall, I love coming here for sushi. Worth your money!
Go to place in Gainesville! Their hibachi is amazing, very yummy food and friendly service. They also have a lunch special until 3pm weekdays. Lunch special includes soup and salad with options of reduced $ hibachi, bento box, 2/3 rolls combo, & more.
Great find in Gainesville. Itâs across from Celebration Point so itâs far enough away from campus that you can probably get a table on a football weekend. They donât take reservations, but our wait was only 25 minutes. The food was worth the wait. Delicious fresh sushi. Everything we ordered was very good. Service was friendly, but itâs busy so be realistic. If youâre looking for good sushi in GainesvilleâŚ. This is the best.
